Period: July 2023 to March 2024
Outline:
As the current level of infrastructure development in Kinshasa remains low and its maintenance is an urgent issue, information on road sector development was collected. Moreover, through discussions with the relevant authorities, issues and basic information were analysed in order to assist with the four-laning of the ‘University Avenue’ as a north-south axis, road drainage facilities and ancillary facilities. Under the disturbing situation of deteriorating security conditions prior to the presidential election, field surveys were conducted and discussions held with local government agencies. Several options were proposed to improve road connectivity within the region through the development of the University Avenue, which would provide a road network, complement the weak east-west and north-south axis, and improve road traffic efficiency by eliminating bottlenecks.
